I'm a news junkie, workaholic, who absolutely loves getting up at 4:00 in the morning and trekking to work. When I'm not at the station, you'll catch me with my dad, mom, big sister, friends and dogs. I love to read--- Wally Lamb books, Buster's Diaries, biographies and non-fiction. I love to watch movies on a stormy night with people I love. Among my favorites: Chicago, Bridget Jones series, The Odyssey. I love going to musicals---- Mamma Mia! in Vegas was amazing. I play the piano and I'm teaching myself how to play the fiddle, mine happens to be red, which is my favorite color ;)
When you can catch me on air...
It's my favorite part of the day...weekday mornings from 5:30-9:00 on Delaware This Morning. You can also catch my reports throughout the day on 1450 WILM News Radio.

The end of this chapter
Tuesday 02-26-2008 9:36pm ET
It's a bittersweet time in my life.
My journey at WILM will come to an end next Thursday, as I have accepted a position at a TV station in a different market, outside of Delaware.

Looking back at the past four and a half years....whew.  I got to cover a tornado, plane crashes, political races, Crown Princess Victoria's visit to Delaware, and I could go on and on and on. I even got to take a ride in a C-130. I'm a lucky girl. And I owe so much to WILM.

But I know that it's time to go. I've embraced so many new opportunities this past year--- teaching classes at Wilmington University, acting as advocacy coordinator with PanCAN, buying my first home--- and it's time to embrace this new opportunity as well.

I'm so excited for what the future holds. I don't think I've been able to wipe this smile off my face for about a week now. But it saddens me to think about what I'm leaving behind- some of my best friends.

Besides an amazing learning experience, WILM has introduced me to some friendships that will forever hold a special place in my heart. These people are not just my co-workers, but I consider some of them my best friends, like family. They've shown me compassion, supported me through difficult times, helped me along the way, and man, I'm going to miss them.
Mark Eichmann, Mark Fowser, John Watson (my J-Watt), Ted Efaw, Joe LeCompte, Johnnie LaMonica...leaving these people is the hardest part.

And there are a number of others who have made my time at WILM so special--- too many to name. Thank-you.

So with this chapter ending, it's time to look ahead....

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

Back to Work

Brrrrrr....a cold start to the week. It was a relaxing weekend for me. I hope you all can say the same.
If you got a chance to listen to Delaware This Morning today, I talked a little bit about the Valentine's Party I attended this weekend for my pups.
Their Nana put ribbons in their fur and they got their picture taken. She also made them Valentine scarves....so cute!

Have you ever had one of those mornings where you check the clock and it's around 3:00 and you are wide awake.
So you're in bed and you finally start drifting off past the hump of sleeplessness and then all of a sudden, beep beep beep....and it's time to wake up? It was one of those mornings.
But I'm excited for this week as far as Presidential politics.....I'm looking forward to seeing what the week will bring for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. I think it's pretty obvious that John McCain has pretty much clinched the Republican nomination....let's see what Mike Huckabee will do :)
Here We Go...
Saturday 01-19-2008 10:10am ET
If this week was any indication, we're in for a heck of a political season.
Isn't is fun?
Alan Levin announced this week that he will not seek the governor's seat this year.
Well that took the state Republicans by surprise. I spoke with Republican State Party Chairman Terry Strine about this...and it almost seemed as if the news hadn't hit him yet. He was under the impression that Levin was going to announce his candidacy after Super Tuesday. Apparently, Levin has other plans. He says the decision was best for his family, which, I'm sure it was.
This is what I think:
Don't count Levin out of the political scene just yet. Levin sits out for the next 4-8 years. That way, he won't have to go up against a powerhouse like John Carney or Jack Markell. By the way, Markell's already announced that he has broken records with his campaign fundraising.
If Levin had entered the race after Super Tuesday, although he does have deep pockets, he'd still have a bit of catching-up to do when it comes to fundraising.
So he sits out for the next two processes, and then he enters. We've discussed this in the newsroom as well. Levin's young enough to do it.
What do you think?
It's just my speculation.
Regardless, here we go....jumping head first into the '08 political season.....
